Claude asked "should I install the adapters?" during the BookingHQ update: what they are and what yes or no changes
Last updated September 20, 2026
While updating your BookingHQ folder from the Green Room package, Claude may ask whether to install "the adapters". This page says what they are, where they land, and what happens if you say yes or no.
What the adapters are
The workspace package carries 117 small pointer files under BookingHQ/.claude/skills/, one for each playbook, reference and script in your folder (46 playbook, 62 reference, 9 script). Each one is a few lines long and says the same thing: it is a reference-only adapter, it contains no private Booked method, and it tells Claude which ID to pass to booked skill guide when you want the current guide for that item. They hold no credentials and no subscription token.
They are not the DJ and AV terminal adapter or the balloon one. Those are separate downloads in the Green Room for those editions.
Where they land
The copies inside your folder arrive with the update itself: every file in the workspace package is written into BookingHQ, adapters included, and nothing you saved is touched. The question Claude asks is about the extra step in the package's INSTALL.md: running install.sh (Mac and Linux) or install.ps1 (Windows). That installer copies the same pointer files into your user-level Claude skills folder, ~/.claude/skills, so Claude can find the IDs from any folder, and INSTALL.md then has you confirm with booked skill catalog.
So should I?
- Yes does no harm. It copies pointer files only.
- No loses nothing you use day to day. Your playbook (CLAUDE.md, the stages, references and templates) never reads the adapters, and booked skill guide is served live by the Booked Solid desktop app through the booked command, not from the files.
Either way, finish the update and say check my workspace.
Good to know
- The count you see may differ by a few: the package for your tier is what counts, and the Autopilot kit carries six more of its own.
- The adapters change only when a playbook item is added or renamed, so most updates leave them as they are.
